We’ll visit two iconic wineries:
Bacalhôa (Azeitão)
Colourful, artistic, and full of character — a playful mix of wine, architecture, and design.
José Maria da Fonseca (Azeitão)
A historic jewel with centuries of stories inside its old cellars. Elegant, warm, and unmistakably Portuguese.
And yes… we’re going on a catamaran to see the dolphins! 🐬
From Setúbal’s blue waters, we’ll sail along the coast while spotting wild dolphins — an experience that brings pure joy and connection with nature.

The Magic of Atlantic Ocean
I invite you to come paint with me by the Atlantic Ocean in Setúbal, where we will be inspired by the colors, the light, and the magic of the Atlantic Ocean itself — together with the wild energy of Arrábida. We will paint the sea, the movement, the sky, and everything that touches us emotionally. This retreat is not just about painting a place — it’s about feeling it, and translating that feeling onto the canvas together.

Your time with Maricela Del Rio:
Is designed for all skill levels; no prior experience is required, just an openness to learning and a sense of adventure!.
Maricela will guide you in simplifying and abstracting what you observe to create a dynamic composition and a finished painting. You will be able to paint from life/observation or following a photo reference.
- Painting the sea will be the main theme in our painting sessions.
By the end of this enriching experience, you’ll leave with a joyful heart and your own original paintings inspired by your retreat in Portugal.
Maricela Del Rio is a professional painter, full-time artist, and painting coach.

Accommodation is planned at Melia Setúbal or an equivalent hotel of the same category and comfort level, depending on availability.
Final hotel confirmation will be communicated once the group is complete.
Certain elements of the programme may be subject to minor adjustments due to availability or logistical requirements. Any changes will always respect the spirit, quility and overall experience of the retreat.
Retreat Investment
€2,025 per person, single room
€1,845 per person, double room
A €200 commitment fee is required to join the waiting list and secure priority access to the retreat.
Once the minimum number of 8 participants is reached, participants will receive an invoice for the first payment.
If the retreat does not reach the minimum number of participants, the €200 commitment fee will be fully refunded. Or we can move you to our next retreat.

Terms & Conditions – Portugal Art Retreat (May 2026)
The retreat will take place only if a minimum of 8 participants is reached.
1. Price & Payment Options
The total retreat price per person is:

€2,025 in a single room.

€1,845 per person double room.
The standard payment schedule is:
-
50% deposit to confirm the booking.
-
50% balance payable 30 days before the start of the retreat.

Non-painting accompanying guests are welcome. Please contact us by email for pricing and availability.

The monthly payment option includes administrative and payment processing costs.
A place is considered confirmed once the first payment is received.
2. Monthly Payment Plan
Participants choosing the monthly payment option commit to completing all instalments.
In the event of cancellation by the participant:

All instalments already paid remain non-refundable

Any remaining instalments remain due and payable
3. Cancellation by the Participant
Participants may cancel the retreat at any time before its start.
Due to the nature of this retreat and the advance costs involved (accommodation, venues, experiences, organisation and staffing), a cancellation fee of up to 100% of the total retreat price applies.
As a result, no refund will be issued for payments made, regardless of the reason for cancellation.
Participants may, however, transfer their place to another person, subject to approval and availability, up to 14 days before the retreat start date.
4. Mandatory EU Exception – Extraordinary Circumstances
In accordance with EU Directive 2015/2302 on Package Travel, participants may cancel without a cancellation fee in the event of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occurring at the destination or its immediate vicinity, which significantly affect the performance of the retreat or transport to the destination.
In such cases, all payments made will be refunded, with no additional compensation.
5. Cancellation or Changes by the Organiser
The retreat is confirmed once the minimum number of participants is reached.
If the retreat is cancelled by the organiser (including if the minimum number of participants is not met), all payments received will be fully refunded within 14 days.
If a significant change to the retreat is required (including a price increase of more than 8%), participants will be informed and may accept the change, accept an equivalent alternative, or cancel with a full refund, in accordance with EU regulations.
6. Accommodation
Accommodation is planned at the selected hotel.
In the unlikely event of a change, an alternative hotel of equivalent category, comfort, and standards will be provided.
Final hotel confirmation will be communicated once the group is complete.
7. Acceptance of Terms
By completing the booking and making a payment, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

We designed this retreat as an "all-inclusive" experience, so you can fully immerse yourself in creativity and relaxation without worrying about logistics.

Accommodation: 4 nights, 5 days in Setúbal, Portugal.

All meals and drinks: Lunch, dinner on the day of arrival, breakfast, lunch, dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

Daily Painting Sessions: Guided painting sessions with Maricela Del Rio.

All materials are included: studio and artist quality.

Three exclusive experiences: Catamaran Experience, Visit to two wineries, and wine tastings.

Airport transfers: Round-trip transfers between Lisbon and the retreat location. Timing is based on the direct flight from Brussels.

Transfers to the wineries.

Captured Moments: Photos and videos captured on iPhone to keep memories of the experience.

Seamless Communication: All activities, painting sessions, and experiences are conducted in English for ease and accessibility.
This retreat is designed for you to simply show up, create and enjoy. Every detail has been carefully planned so you can focus on your artistic journey.
Important Considerations

Travel insurance is strongly recommended, but not included in the retreat package.

Flights and personal expenses (including extras on the spot) are not included.

Transfers in your home country are not included.

Flights are not included.

We recommend bringing mosquito repellent, sunblock SPF 30+ or anything else you may need for comfort during outdoor activities. We will be surrounded by beautiful nature.

Bring you swimsuit, the day at the Catamaran experience you may want to use it.
